last night

John LeVine Gallery, NYC 8.5.11 (Opening reception)

Walking Through Walls (artwork by Gary Baseman):

“Cloud of Ghosts” and untitled

“Cherry”

Strange Wanderings (artwork by Andy Kehoe):

“Exodus of Youth”

“Even Fiends Need Friends”

“Goodness Parts from the Hateful Host”

“Hail the Dark Wonder”

“Revel in the Wild Joy” (my favorite and now my desktop background)

These were taken rushed and in stealth mode (even when permitted, i still feel weird taking pictures of the art works at galleries for some reason) so, needless to say, they don’t do the pieces the most justice.

For more info, higher quality scans and to see more paintings that were up check out: Andy Kehoe and Gary Baseman’s pages on the John LeVine Gallery website.

2011 week in review: two. already a blur.

can’t believe it’s only been two weeks.  I feel like it’s already august.

this week was mainly a settling down week, realizing that i have a home after a year of wandering (wondering?).

i’m getting hungry again looking at this…

Along with amazing vegetarian turkey, stuffing and gravy… I ate this last night in the company of some of my best friends (new and old) and some of their family.

After dinner, we, appropriately, talked about bug infestations, baby names and “anaL probe”.

I had a great Christmas.  Hope you did too.

Baking is love aka I make a mean carrot cake.

Look at that excitement!   This will be me soon enough.
Living in South Florida my whole life up until now, in my mind I’m still waiting for the temperature to go up to the 80s real soon because that’s what it would do: get “real cold” (usually in the 50s or so) for maybe a week and then get hot again and it would fluctuate back and forth like this for about  month or two.
To think winter officially just started a few nights ago and these weeks of 20-30 degree weather have technically been autumn still hasn’t fully registered in my brain yet.   Soon there will be white piles of snow for me to play with/in and soon there will be the possibility that I, too, will hate it like everyone else up here seems to.
For now, though, the excitement is there.  I turn 31 in a few days and this is my first real winter I will be experiencing in it’s fullness, from beginning to end.   My body is already used to it and windless days in the lower to mid 30s are now “warm days” to me.
This will be interesting and I’m sure you will be hearing more about this as the time passes.  Last year, the winter down south was actually pretty rough and this year they’re apparently getting record lows, from what I hear….  oh man, what the hell are the next few months going to be like?
